Members of the Australian Federal Police Former Members Association were very pleased today to present our Patron Major-General (Retired) Ron Grey AO DSO FAIM with a commemorative boxed challenge coin. Ian & Heather Jackson, Dave Savage and Geoff Hobart were welcomed by our hosts Avril and former AFP Commissioner Ron Grey.

Mr Grey, who is also an AFPFMA member, served as the AFP Commissioner from 1983 – 1988. To read an article written on Mr Grey’s retirement, click here.

Mr Grey has recently celebrated his 90th birthday and happens to be the AFPFMA’s oldest statesman. Still in fine form, Mr Grey discussed those glory days of the AFP and life since then.

On 29 November 2019, Major-General Grey accepted an invitation from the AFPFMA to be our Patron. He was today presented with a challenge coin in a commemorative box, lapel pin and AFPFMA coffee mug (not yet available for sale).

“It is a great honour to have Major-General Grey as our Patron. He was my Commissioner during my time in the AFP,” said Mike Doroshenko AFPFMA President.

All members of the AFPFMA would like to wish our Patron, all the very best in health and happiness. Thank you for your time today Sir.
