The AFPFMA is saddened to hear of the passing of one of our foundation members #67. Detective Superintendent Raymond John (Boney) Cooper (Retired) AFP 538, who was a regular attendee to our monthly coffee catch-ups on the Sunshine Coast. Our condolences to Robyn and family. Ray will be missed.
Mr Cooper was born 9 December 1945 and passed away 9 December 2020 on his birthday aged 75 years in Caloundra Queensland.
Mr Cooper joined the Australian Capital Territory Police in 1969 and became a member of the Australian Federal Police on Foundation Day in 1979. Mr Cooper began his career working in General Policing, Internal Investigation Division and the Criminal Investigations Branch. Mr Cooper was also involved with the White Collar Investigations Team and the introduction of National Policy relating to Medifraud Investigations.
Mr Cooper held roles in Eastern and Northern Command as part of the Fraud and General Crime Branch and the Organised Crime Branch. Mr Cooper served with the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus in 1975. He retired from the AFP in December 1995.
