Today the AFP Former Members Association received a lovely letter of thanks from one of our beneficiaries of our bush fire appeal. We thought that we would like to share it with all those who contributed to this massive gesture of good will which raised a total of $19,116.72.
The AFPFMA Bush fire fundraising appeal raised a total of $19,116.72! A fantastic effort that demonstrates the generosity of former AFP members and the broader Blue Family. To ensure all those eligible for assistance are supported, we now seek your help in ensuring we know who they are.
Although there are fires still raging in NSW and Victoria, we appreciate the need to get support moving quickly. To that end the AFPFMA have just made the first three cash payments to those who lost their homes. A great effort by everyone.
By now everyone is aware that Dave R has been burnt out in the bush fires in Cobargo and has lost everything. When contacted by the AFPFMA, Dave’s only request was for the loan of a caravan to use as temporary accommodation on his block on the outskirts of town so that he can look after his animals and keep an eye on his property (not that there is anything left for looters).
The AFP Former Members Association put the call out and our community responded big time. In no time at all, two Mates in Blue stepped up to the plate. Dave F (a former AFP member in Canberra) put up his generous hand to offer his caravan to Dave R from Cobargo NSW (an AFPFMA member), who’s house was gutted by fire. Dave R and his family lost everything in the terrible bush fire that swept through Cobargo on New Years eve.
