The Australian Federal Police Former Members Association. Inc. has today unveiled it’s new logo, which has been tweaked by experts. “Thank you to Nicole for doing a great job, and improving our brand,” said President Mike Doroshenko.
Changes to the logo included a new colour, Sillitoe tartan (3 band chequered ribbon) to both sides of the blue ring, new font, new Platypus. Platypus is Latin for “flat foot” and is an interesting icon. More information on the Platypus can be found: click here.
The logo itself features the Commonwealth star and the words “Police Veteran” predominantly featured. The term Police Veteran is one that has been adopted by the Australian Federal Police Former Members Association. The term is also widely used in America, and it’s a term which will be more widely used in Australia, as described recently by Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Graham Ashton & police union boss Sgt. Wayne Gatt.
Here is a great article.
“Their longer term goal is to push for all police veterans to get the sort of extensive benefits former defence force personnel have had for decades. They are jointly lobbying the Federal Government to give former police the equivalent of the Department of Veterans’ Affairs Health Card, which entitles military veterans to a wide range of free public and private health care services.Mr Ashton and Sgt Gatt also want retired police treated and respected in the same way military veterans are — and to remove the stigma some people still attach to mental illness. They have already started referring to those who are usually called ex-police or former officers as police veterans instead — and they hope it will become as commonly used as the term military veterans is.”
We hope you like the new logo.
