Also celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the AFP, the AFP Legacy Ball is a formal event and bound to be one of the epic events on the calendar for 2019.

The Australian Federal Police Legacy (AFP Legacy) was created to perpetuate the memory of AFP officers killed in the line of duty and to support the families of AFP employees who die in service to their community. AFP Legacy provides support to ‘legatees’, who are the spouse or child of a deceased AFP employee, and we raise funds for related charitable purposes.

AFP Legacy is committed to providing professional and compassionate support for the widows, widowers and dependent children of deceased AFP members.

Currently, AFP Legacy supports 30 families including 60 Legatees through financial and emotional support.

As a not-for-profit charity, AFP Legacy receives no government funding and relies on donors, sponsorship, fundraising events, and the generosity of AFP members giving through payroll deductions.

One such event is the annual and extremely popular, ‘AFP Legacy Charity Ball’, which is our major fundraiser.

This year marks the 40th Anniversary of the AFP and we are joining the AFP to celebrate this milestone at our ‘AFP Legacy Charity Ball’, scheduled to be held on Saturday 19 October 2019, at The Great Hall, Parliament House, Canberra, ACT. Coincidentally, the date of our Ball is the exact 40th anniversary date for the AFP, having come into being on 19 October 1979.

When booking online, don’t forget to request a table seated with AFP former members.
